Job Description
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that Clearly Tahoe staff performance and equipment conditions are meeting expected company standards. This includes training staff members on proper use of equipment, monitoring the quality of in person tour services, and maintaining the physical condition of equipment. The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for managing all equipment inventory, analyzing issues that may arise from storage and use, and training others on how to reduce issues and extend life expectancy of equipment. The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing incident/loss/damage reports, helping resolve issues and updating the team on new policies or procedures. The Quality Control Supervisor will help oversee inventory, facilitate maintenance, transportation and storage of equipment. The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for communicating with other departments regarding equipment needs and helping to facilitate new and replacement orders. The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for training all team members who to use equipment including tour guides and shuttle drivers. Training will emphasize safe and proper use of equipment and how to respond to potential emergencies and problems that may arise. The Quality Control Supervisor will work with HR and management to ensure all employees have completed necessary trainings for their position. The Quality Control Supervisor will help shadow new tour guides and ensure facts, information, and procedures have been learned and are being applied correctly. The Quality Control Supervisor will encourage tour guides and shuttle drivers to excel in the industry by providing helpful tools, information and training to ensure they succeed. The Quality Control Supervisor will facilitate/help facilitate in-house certification courses, safety trainings and community-based educational programs. The Quality Control Supervisor will help coordinate educational workshops and keep training materials updated accordingly. The Quality Control Supervisor will also serve as a back-up tour guide or shuttle driver and should be willing to help step in and assist with various company needs when necessary.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the Quality Control Supervisor position will have existing knowledge of the company and a minimum of 2 years experience guiding on Lake Tahoe. Candidate should be a very organized individual who can navigate an office work environment as well as other on-site (outdoor) workspaces. Candidates for this position must have excellent problem-solving skills and be goal oriented. A candidate for this position should be able to work independently or in a team environment. Candidate should have the ability to teach by physical example and verbal explanation while providing written references to students. This individual should have the ability to adapt to various needs with little to no notice and be willing to fill in other company facets as necessary.

Clearly Tahoe is a full-service recreational company in the Lake Tahoe area that specializes in guided tours and rentals on both land and water. We currently feature guided tours from 5 different Lake Tahoe locations, operate 1 rental concession on Lake Tahoe and 2 adventure-themed retail shops in the Tahoe basin. In addition to our popular tours in completely transparent kayaks, Clearly Tahoe also offers on-site rentals from the Sand Harbor Nevada State Park, hiking, biking and snowshoe tours during the off-season. Our sister location based out of California offers 2 additional tour locations and guided excursions that depart from our 46-foot tri-toon, the Clearly Explorer. With a team of more than 60 employees, Clearly Tahoe offers a variety of both seasonal and year-round positions, in-house training, and growth opportunities.
Work Environment
The Quality Control Supervisor will be based out of our Zephyr Cove Activities office by default but will have a secondary workspace dedicated to equipment and training operations in Carson City, NV. Our Quality Control Supervisor will be expected to navigate all Clearly Tahoe operating locations for training and maintenance purposes. The Quality Control Supervisor will often work independently or with other managers to coordinate trainings, update training materials or address concerns. The Quality Control Supervisor will oversee maintenance projects and facilitate team training events as necessary. The Quality Control Supervisor will be expected to attend meetings from time to time as well as company-wide events when necessary.
Schedule Details
The Quality Control Supervisor will work on a flexible schedule between the hours of 5:00am and as late as 2:00am with shifts that range from 2-12 hours per day. Common schedule for this position is expected to be 8:00am – 4:00pm, 4-6 days per week. Part-time will be considered 2-3 days per week or less than 32 hours. Full-time is considered 4+ days per week or 32+ hours per week.
Operating Season
Our Quality Control Supervisor is expected to work an 8-month season (April – November) but may be asked to start earlier for pre-season training in the first season. In the event of favorable weather, season may be adjusted.
Clearly Tahoe is a seasonal recreational company that is only open at limited capacity during the winter months. Our 4-month high-season runs from June through September. (Please note: it is highly desired that employees do not have extensive time-off requests during this time) the bulk of our activity division seasonal employees are expected to work between the 6-month period of May through October while extended season and returning employees may work an 8-month period from April through November. First-year sales and reservation team members should be available to work during our 8-month extended season (April – November) while returning and seasonal sales division team members can be expected to work between the 10-month period of February 15th and December 15th.
Primary Responsibilities
- Knowledge of equipment and intended use.
- Oversee assembly and repair.
- Create use plan for handling of equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is stored and transported properly.
- Train team members how to handle equipment while avoiding damage to themselves or equipment.
- Oversee loss/damage equipment reports.
- Troubleshoot cause of damage.
- Repair or replace as necessary.
- Keep meticulous logs of maintenance.
- Coordinate team maintenance projects when necessary.
- Oversee team on maintenance projects.
- Keep records of performance for maintenance team.
- Help receive and inventory deliveries.
- Submit needs for new supplies to Finance Department.
Organize all purchase records for monthly expense report. - Keep inventory of all recreational equipment and supplies for all locations.
- Facilitate Equipment and Safety training with all necessary employees.
- Coordinate Guide Trainings with Activities Manager and HR Coordinator
- Facilitate Guide Trainings.
- Distribute location-specific training materials.
- Help coordinate guide training shifts.
- Work with HR coordinator and Activities Manager to ensure all guides take and pass required tests.
- Ensure all trainings requirements have been met in sequence.
- Shadow new guides.
- Review Incident Reports.
- Work with Activities Manager and HR Manager to address issues that may have occurred on the water.
- Use constructive criticism from guests to improve guide performance.
- Help coordinate and facilitate in-house lifeguard and CPR Lifeguard courses.

Compensation/Salary:
Training Rate: $14.00/hour (Nevada)
Starting Rate: $24.00-26.00/hour |
Long-Term Rate Range: $24.00-31.50/hour | $49,920.00 – $64,896.00/Year
