Boxed Water is Better
Each day people throw away 60,000 million plastic water bottles in the United States alone. Each one of these bottles takes 450 years to break down. Staying hydrated at high elevation is more important than ever. That is why we have partnered with Boxed Water to provide complimentary waters for our guests during our experiences. Boxed Water comes in a 92% plant based recyclable carton instead of a plastic bottle and they are a company that cares about reducing their carbon footprint and making a product that makes a difference. Plus if you tag your #BoxedWater on your Clearly Tahoe tour they will plant 2 trees!
LEAVE NO TRACE
The Clearly Crew is made of up of passionate people who care deeply about the environment and the preservation of Lake Tahoe. We encourage our visitors to “pack it in, pack it out” during their stay and we use our tours to explain the importance of the “leave no trace” principle. We also practice what we preach. Our team retrieves small debris as they see it, logs larger items for later retrieval, and gets out to participate in local clean ups – on land and below the surface. We are pleased to have the opportunity to host our own clean ups for our team, and also to be able to participate in larger events put on by partners like Keep Tahoe Blue and Clean Up the Lake.
CLEAN, DRY, AND DRAIN
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) are the greatest threat to Lake Tahoe’s legendary clarity. The fight against them is ongoing and takes collaboration between multiple public agencies and local non-profit groups. They run watercraft inspection stations to prevent AIS from entering the lake, monitor existing threats already in the lake and work on methods of eradication and containment. Our guides are trained to look out for and report AIS that they see on the lake and to educate and encourage their guests to do the same. One important step that each and every person who enjoys the waters of Lake Tahoe can do is to clean, dry, and drain their equipment before entering the lake and before changing areas of use within the lake. This includes vessels, paddles, water shoes, life vests and even sand toys. To help prevent the spread of AIS at Clearly Tahoe, we use a “Zones” model with our rental and tour equipment that prevents equipment from moving from one area to another without thorough decontamination. If you are interested in learning more about AIS you can sign up for one of Keep Tahoe Blue’s Eyes on the Lake trainings and become a Tahoe Keeper yourself!
