This tour blends a scenic boat cruise with a guided clear kayak tour, taking you on an all in one journey through Emerald Bay. Departing from South Lake Tahoe, this unique 3-hour adventure takes guests on a cruise across crystal-clear waters to reach one of Lake Tahoe’s most sought after paddle destination. Upon arrival to Emerald Bay, the clear kayaks are launched directly from the boat for a guided tour of the bay’s dazzling waters and rich history. Enjoy endless views of granite cliffs and towering peaks above and glittering blue green hues below!

The Clearly Explorer gives guests the opportunity to enjoy Tahoe’s longest point to point clear kayak paddle, with the knowledge and expertise of trained guides on the water and close by comfort of the larger vessel. Aboard, guests can enjoy complimentary amenities, a restroom, complimentary snacks, everything needed for a relaxing and immersive day on the water.

This experience is highly recommended for guests who want to spend more time on the lake, capture more views during their time on the water and immerse themselves in a more explorative tour. This excursion is perfect for groups of varying ability levels and provides guests with the opportunity to paddle at their leisure and return to the boat to relax, grab a snack to use the restroom as necessary. Guests aboard the Clearly Explorer can observe and participate with the rest of their party from a short distance. 

What to Wear;
Guests should wear comfortable light layers as well as shoes that can be removed easily. We highly recommend hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen, swimsuits are optional but not required.

This tour is suitable for beginners and is generally considered but does require more paddling than some of our other beginner-level experiences. 

Limitations:
Limitations do apply to this experience. All participants must be over the age of 4 and there is a combined weight limit of 375lbs. per boat. Pets will not be permitted on this experience. Vessel is limited to 32 guests. All participants must reserve a kayak to attend the excursion. PLEASE NOTE: There is a mandatory check-in at for this experience. All guests must arrive to our Clearly Tahoe Shop at the Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe for check-in no less than 30 minutes prior to departure. Details for Physical Requirements:
Guests should be able to listen to and understand rules, regulations, and safety lecture verbally provided in English. Guests will be required to step down from the vessel to a floating dock with the assistance of a crew member. Guests will be required to enter the vessel one foot at a time and lower themselves to a seated position without assistance. Guests will be required to sit in an upright position and paddle at a reasonable pace with occasional breaks. Guests should be able to remain afloat with the assistance of a PFD and calmly follow instructions of a tour guide in an emergency scenario.

Description:
Enjoy an LED Clear Kayak Tour suitable for the whole family! Our LED Glow tour is a truly unique way to enjoy an evening on Lake Tahoe! The LED Glow tour begins at dusk and takes guests on a short eco paddle as the sky begins to darken, and the glow from the LED lights begin to take over. Guests will have the opportunity to experience some surrounding plants and animals and enjoy the relaxing evening paddle with a colorful luminescent ambiance.

Please note: The water is not very clear on this experience, and while you are very likely to see wildlife on this tour, Clearly Tahoe cannot guarantee sightings as we do not bait, trap or lure animals.

Recommendations: 
This tour is designed to depart at dusk when it is not yet completely dark. This tour is highly recommended for families with younger children or guests who don’t want to be out late. NOTE: The temperatures are also warmer on our earlier tour as opposed to tours that occur later in the evening.

What to Wear;
Guests should wear light layers as well as low profile footwear such as water shoes or sneakers. No heavy boots or heels will be permitted in the kayaks. We highly recommend hats and sunglasses for early evening tours. A light jacket is encouraged any time of year for night time LED tours.

Recommendations: 
This tour is highly recommended for those who are curious about Lake Tahoe’s unique ecosystem and the wildlife that calls it home. This tour is best in the early morning while the water is calm and glassy and can begin as early as 6:00 am during the summer months. Canoes can be seated for 2 or 3 guests, but can unfortunately not accommodate single riders at this time.
Guests should wear comfortable light layers as well as a jacket for early morning or dusk activities. We highly recommend hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and bug spray. Swimsuits are optional but not required.

Description:
The tour explores the 150 year-old second-growth Sierra Nevada forest that lines the shoreline of the historic settlements established by the Pope, Baldwin and Heller families. This environmental and historical experience guides guests past these early estates towards the Taylor Creek, known for calm morning waters and abundant wildlife. Along the way, guests may observe wildlife both above and below the surface, all while learning about the natural and delicate ecosystem of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Paddling above resting cobblestone shoreline provides a striking view of submerged granite stones with subtle natural color variations visible through the clear water at shallow depths. Framed by the Sierra Nevada mountain range, this tour also offers expansive views of Desolation Wilderness and 9,735-foot Mount Tallac. Guests will learn how this prominent peak and the surrounding landscape were historically used by the Washoe Tribe to gauge seasonality in the basin. This guided clear kayak experience is fun, educational, and immersive. The experience is designed for families, adults, and children ages five and older of all skill levels.

Guests can find their guide and kayaks ready and waiting on the beach to the west of the Grove and The Beachside Inn. Follow signage from the main parking area. Parking is first come first served and is subject to selling out during peak summer months. The parking fee will be paid directly to Camp Richardson upon entering the lot. Your kayaking reservation does not include nor guarantee parking. Please arrive early. We highly recommend ride-shares and public transportation options when possible. This location is also accessible via the bike path.

Recommendations: 
The Golden Shores tour is a beginner level paddle and is highly recommended for paddlers of all skill levels and ages (5+). The historical content focusing on the settlements along this stretch of shoreline is presented in an easy and approachable way that can be enjoyed by everyone from first time visitors to seasoned history buffs. This is a unique way to enjoy the shift in seasons as the golden hues of the aspens and vegetation along the shoreline contrast with the dazzling blues of the lake. Wild life sightings are possible as both animals and humans await the yearly return of the Kokanee salmon to Taylor Creek for their annual spawning. Lucky paddlers may even get to view the salmon through their clear kayaks near the mouth of the Taylor Creek!

What to Wear;
Guests should wear comfortable light layers as well as shoes that can be removed easily. We highly recommend hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and a light sweatshirt or jacket.

Please note: While our guests tend to stay relatively dry during this experience, all participants and belongings are subject to getting wet. Clearly Tahoe is not responsible for any lost or damaged items. Electronics and valuables should be left in a safe place.

Limitations:
Limitations do apply to this experience. All participants must be over the age of 5 and there is a weight limit of 375lbs. per boat. Pets will not be permitted on this experience. PLEASE NOTE: There is a mandatory check-in at for this experience. All guests must arrive for check-in no less than 30 minutes prior to departure. Please see confirmation email for more information.

Check-in Policy:
Guests MUST arrive to Camp Richardson  30 minutes prior to scheduled activity for check-in. All participants must complete electronic liability waivers prior to departure. Guests who miss their scheduled check in might miss their tour. Missed tours are non-refundable. Paid parking at Camp Richardson is first come first serve. Please allow extra time to find parking if you are driving in for your tour.

Meeting Location and Parking:
Guests can find their guide and kayaks ready and waiting on the beach to the west of the Grove and The Beachside Inn. Follow signage from the main parking area. Parking is first come first served and is subject to selling out during peak summer months. The parking fee will be paid directly to Camp Richardson upon entering the lot. Your kayaking reservation does not include nor guarantee parking. Please arrive early. We highly recommend ride-shares and public transportation options when possible. This location is also accessible via the bike path.

Reservation Changes:
Changes made to a current reservation day, date time or activity will result in a $20.00 Reservation Change Fee per request. Reservation Changes may be possible but are not guaranteed. Reservation Changes must be requested by completing our online Reservation Change/Cancellation Form no less than 48-hours prior to the check-in time for scheduled activity. Upon approval, any additional fees resulting from Reservation Change will be automatically charged to the method of payment on file unless otherwise noted. Cancellation Fee shall apply to any cancelled guests as per Cancellation Policy. Any remaining amount will be refunded as per our Refund Policy. Guest is responsible for original reservation if Reservation Change request is not approved.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations can be made up 48-hours prior to the check-in time for scheduled activity. Cancellations will result in a 50% Cancellation Fee plus booking fees. Full cancellations can be made via the cancel booking link in confirmation email. For customer assistance with cancellations, or for partial cancellations, please complete our Reservation/Change Cancellation form on our website. What if my Tour is Cancelled by Clearly Tahoe?
Clearly Tahoe reserves the right to cancel a scheduled tour at anytime due to weather, road conditions, or uncontrollable factors. If a tour is cancelled by Clearly Tahoe guests will be offered a full refund and rescheduling options when possible.
