1.5 Hour Golden Shores Clear Kayak Tour in Completely Transparent Kayaks!
Please Note: This tour is a limited time seasonal variation of our Summit Shores Tour and is offered during the peak fall foliage season in South Lake Tahoe. The Kokanee salmon run typically happens during this shift in seasons but is dependent on various natural factors beyond our control and we cannot guarantee sightings.
Description:
This 1.5 hour, approximately 2.5-mile clear kayak tour offers guests a leisurely paddle in completely clear kayaks during the fall season, when the shoreline surrounding Lake Tahoe transforms with vibrant autumn color and increased wildlife activity. As we explore the shoreline near Camp Richardson Resort, guests will paddle alongside 150 year-old second-growth Sierra Nevada forest and experience the striking seasonal shift as aspens and shoreline vegetation turn warm shades of gold and amber, creating a dramatic contrast against the clear blue waters of the lake. This seasonal wildlife and nature-focused experience guides guests toward the Taylor Marsh and Taylor Creek areas, where calm morning conditions often provide exceptional visibility into the shallows and along the shoreline. During the fall months, guests may have the opportunity to witness the annual Kokanee salmon run and observe salmon moving beneath the surface through the clear kayaks as they gather near the mouth of the creek. Along the route, guests may also see a variety of bird species such as ospreys, bald eagles, and even the possibility of black bears along the forested shoreline, though sightings are not guaranteed. Framed by the Sierra Nevada mountain range, this tour also offers expansive views of Mount Tallac while guests gain insight into the region’s natural history and seasonal rhythms that have shaped the Lake Tahoe Basin for generations. This guided clear kayak experience is scenic, educational, and immersive experience is designed for families, adults, and children ages five and older of all skill levels.
Clearly Tahoe provides everything our guests should need during their time on the water including but not limited to small coolers with complimentary water and granola bars, USCG approved PFDs and dry bags.
